Vertical multi-stage fire pump is a type of fire protection system designed to provide adequate pressure and flow for fire suppression in high rise buildings. The system typically consists of two or more stages of pumps, each with a different set of impellers, that are arranged in a vertical configuration. This type of system is typically used in buildings with a large number of floors that require a high level of pressure and flow for fire suppression. The pumps can be either electric or diesel powered, depending on the requirements of the building and the local fire code.
The performance of multi-stage fire pump failure has the following common characteristics:
1.Excessive power consumption of multi-stage fire pumps
Reasons: the speed of the multi-stage fire pump is too high; the main shaft of the multi-stage pump is bent or the main shaft of the pump is not concentric or parallel to the main shaft of the motor;
Methods: check the circuit voltage, reduce the multi-stage pump speed; correct the pump spindle or adjust the relative position of the pump and the motor; select a pump with a suitable lift; clean up the sediment or blockage; replace the ball bearing of the motor.
2. Insufficient flow of multi-stage fire pumps
Causes: Insufficient flow of multi-stage fire pumps is mostly due to air leakage in the suction pipe and bottom valve; blockage of the water inlet; insufficient water entry depth of the bottom valve; too low pump speed;
Method: check the suction pipe and bottom valve, block the source of air leakage; clean up the silt or blockage at the water inlet; the depth of the bottom valve must be greater than 1.5 times the diameter of the water inlet pipe, increase the depth of the bottom valve; check the power supply voltage, increase Pump speed, replace the sealing ring or impeller; reduce the installation position of the water pump, or replace the high-lift water pump.
3. The transmission shaft or motor bearing of the multi-stage fire pump is overheated
Reason: Lack of lubricating oil or broken bearing, etc.
Method: add lubricating oil or replace the bearing.
4. The multi-stage fire pump does not produce water
Reasons: The pump body and the suction pipe are not filled with diversion water; the dynamic water level is lower than the water filter pipe of the pump; the suction pipe is broken, etc.
Method: Troubleshoot the bottom valve, fill up the diversion water; lower the installation position of the water pump so that the filter pipe is below the dynamic water level, or pump the filter pipe after the dynamic water level rises; repair or replace the suction pipe
When the vertical single-stage fire pump unit vibrates, the possible causes of the vibration should be analyzed one by one according to the specific situation. After finding out the crux of the problem, effective technical measures should be taken to eliminate it.
